AliExpress Coupon or Promo Code Not Working? Diagnose the Checkout Error

A rejected promo code almost always comes down to one of five things. Work through them in order: minimum spend, region, expiry, eligible items, and usage limit - and you'll usually have the code applied within a couple of minutes.

This guide is reviewed against the most common AliExpress rejection reasons: minimum spend, region lock, expiry, exclusions and account usage limits.

It's frustrating when a code you expected to save you money is rejected at the last step. The good news: AliExpress rejects codes for a small, predictable set of reasons, and each has a quick fix. Run down this checklist from top to bottom and you'll almost always find the culprit.

The 5 reasons a code is rejected - and how to fix each

1. Your cart is below the minimum spend

Every code has a minimum-spend threshold shown on its coupon card. If your eligible merchandise subtotal is even slightly under that threshold, the code won't apply. Fix: add an eligible item to cross the threshold, or switch to a lower-tier code that matches your current total. Our code lists show the minimum spend on every code.

2. The code has expired

Codes are time-boxed and the active coupon windows are read from the same dataset that powers the coupon pages. Current Global and USA-only coupon codes are valid through September 1, 2026 at 2:59 AM EDT. Fix: use a code with a current validity window. Expired codes disappear automatically from the active lists; grab a fresh one from the coupon codes page.

3. It's region-locked to a different country

This is the single most common surprise. A USA-only code applies only to accounts set to the United States with a US shipping address, while global codes are intended for eligible shoppers in supported countries. Using the wrong region's code triggers a rejection. Fix: match the code to your account; US shoppers can use the USA ladder; everyone else should use global codes.

4. Some items in your cart are ineligible

Certain categories - and some individual sellers - are excluded from platform promo codes. If your cart mixes eligible and excluded items, the code may not count the full total or may be rejected outright. Fix: remove or separately order the excluded items, then re-apply the code to the eligible portion.

5. You've already used the code

Most promo codes are single-use per account. If you redeemed it on an earlier order, it won't work again. Fix: choose a different code. A platform order can still stack a seller coupon and coins even if a one-time platform code is spent.

AliExpress Welcome Deal not working

The Welcome Deal is tied to new-user eligibility rather than being a normal reusable coupon. If AliExpress no longer treats the account as eligible, changing promo codes will not recreate the new-user offer. First confirm that you are signed into the intended account, that the product still shows a new-user price or Welcome Deal label, and that the checkout has not switched to a regular price after another discount was selected.

Best diagnostic: remove unrelated items, reopen the eligible product from its listing, and compare the product price before and after signing in. If the Welcome Deal disappears only after account recognition, the issue is likely account eligibility rather than the coupon field.

AliExpress promo code not working for security reasons

A security-related rejection is different from a simple expired-code message. Repeated checkout attempts, rapid account changes, unusual payment activity or a risk check can cause AliExpress to refuse a promotion even when the text of the code is correct. XpressCoupon cannot override an AliExpress account or payment security decision.

What to do: stop repeatedly submitting the same order, confirm the account, shipping country and payment details are consistent, remove VPN or proxy changes during checkout, and retry later from the normal device and network used for the account. If AliExpress continues to show a security warning, use AliExpress support rather than cycling through dozens of codes.

30-second coupon diagnostic before you rebuild the cart

  1. Region: is the code intended for your account and shipping country?
  2. Threshold: does the eligible merchandise subtotal clear the minimum spend before taxes and shipping?
  3. Validity: is the code inside its published start and end window?
  4. Eligibility: are excluded products reducing the amount that counts?
  5. Account: has the code or Welcome Deal already been consumed on this account?
  6. Security: is AliExpress showing a risk or security message rather than an ordinary coupon rejection?

If the first five checks pass and the message specifically mentions security, treat it as an account or checkout review, not as proof that every published promo code is invalid. For a current alternative, return to the latest AliExpress promo codes and choose a code for your actual region and subtotal.

How to check (and change) your account region

Because region locks cause so many rejections, it's worth confirming your account country:

  1. Open the AliExpress app or website and go to Account → Settings.
  2. Find Country/Region and confirm it matches the code you're trying to use.
  3. Check that your shipping address is in the same country.
  4. If you change the region, refresh your cart before re-applying the code.
Changing your account region can affect pricing, available sellers and shipping options; only change it if you genuinely shop from that country.

Still not working?

If you've ruled out all five reasons and the code still won't apply, try these last checks:

  • Paste, don't retype: a single wrong character (a zero vs the letter O) will fail. Use the Copy button so the code is exact.
  • Apply at checkout, not the cart: the promo field appears on the final payment screen.
  • Use the official app: some codes behave inconsistently on the mobile web.
  • Pick a different tier: if a high code is being stubborn, a slightly lower verified code often applies cleanly.

Grab a fresh, verified code

Start with the current code list on the XpressCoupon homepage, then pick the tier that matches your cart total and region before pasting it at checkout.

Match the error to the next useful check

Changing codes repeatedly is slow when the rejection is caused by the account, region or eligible subtotal. Use the checkout message to decide what to test next.

What you seeMost useful next checkWhat not to assume
Minimum spend not metEligible merchandise subtotal after exclusions and discountsThat the cart headline total is the number AliExpress is testing
Code unavailable in your regionAccount country and shipping destinationThat a larger cart will make a country-locked code work
Code expired or unavailableBackup code from the same active sale or regular ladderThat the entire campaign has ended
Security or risk messageAccount, device, payment and network consistencyThat every coupon is invalid
Welcome Deal disappearedNew-user eligibility and the product's signed-in priceThat a standard promo code can recreate a lost new-user offer
Region example

A $125 cart may qualify mathematically for a code with a $99 minimum, but a USA-only allocation still cannot be used by a Canadian account. Region is a hard eligibility rule, not a threshold that can be solved by adding more items.

This diagnostic is based on the same decision order used by XpressCoupon's region-aware coupon selector. Read how codes are verified.

Frequently asked questions

The five most common reasons are: your cart is below the minimum spend, the code has expired, it is region-locked to a different country, some items in your cart are ineligible, or you have already used the code on your account.
Check your account country in Settings. A USA-only code needs a US account and US shipping address; if you are elsewhere, use a global code instead, which works in any country.
If the code was rejected for not meeting the minimum spend, adding an eligible item to pass the threshold will let it apply. Make sure the added item is not in an excluded category.
Most AliExpress promo codes are single-use per account. If you have already redeemed it, the code will be rejected and you will need a different code.
The Welcome Deal depends on new-user eligibility and the eligible product. If the account no longer qualifies, entering a different promo code will not restore the new-user offer. Check the product price while signed into the intended account and confirm that the listing still shows the Welcome Deal.
Treat a security message as an account or checkout risk decision rather than an ordinary coupon error. Keep account, shipping and payment details consistent, avoid repeated rapid attempts, retry from the normal device and network, and contact AliExpress support if the security warning persists.
